Cryogenic Technology

The separation of gases

The basis of the cryogenic air separation plants is the low-temperature rectification method based on the difference between the temperature of boiling air components and the differences in the equilibrium compositions of liquid and vapor mixtures. In the process of air separation in the cryogenic temperatures are in contact between the liquid and vapor phases, consisting of the components of the air, carried out mass and heat transfer. As a result of low-enriched vapor phase component (component with a low boiling point), and high-fluid component. Thus, the rectification column goes up, low-enriched vapor component - nitrogen and flows down the liquid is saturated with high-ingredient - oxygen.

Benefits

Cryogenic method - the only method which provides high purity products division with, but not least, a high rate of extraction, and any number of the product that causes a high cost. This method allows both the separation of multiple products and receive products, such as in a gas, and in the form of liquid products. Thus, the cryogenic technology provides greater flexibility in technology.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages of cryogenic systems can be longer, in comparison with the adsorption and membrane systems, the starting period. By virtue of this method which are useful for large stationary systems, large with a long period of continuous work.
